These photographs were taken in the exhibition "Releasing the Archive: Art, Anthropology or Performance?" (Doug Bailey, Carpintarias de S. Lázaro, Lisbon 2021). The exhibition results from the questions posed by anthropologist Gou Bailey when he received, in 2011, a box with thousands of disorganized 35mm slides, which belonged to the archive of an old North American anthropology museum that had just closed. Each visitor, at the entrance of the exhibition, receives a polaroid snapshot of his face and is asked, throughout the visit, what he intends to do with that image of himself. Each visitor makes a decision!
